Listen now: Lauren Jauregui gets flirtatious on Aphrodite-inspired track, “More Than That”

Lauren DunnIt’s a good day for Fifth Harmony solo releases.

Normani has released her new collab with Sam Smith, “Dancing with a Stranger,” and her groupmate Lauren Jauregui also dropped a new solo track called “More Than That.”

Earlier this week, Lauren released the cover art for the single, which pictures her looking similar to Botticelli’s Venus, and the song follows that sensual theme. The lyrics talk about being in a relationship but challenging someone else to prove they should have her attention instead.

“You gon’ have to come stronger than this liquor/Wanna take me home, better be more convincing/It’ll take more than that to get to me/More than that to get your way,” she sings.

In an Instagram Live this week, Lauren explained the inspiration behind the song.

“Aphrodite [the Greek goddess of love and beauty] has been my goddess of inspiration for this round,” she said. “She’s very sensual. She’s about love. She’s about connection with pleasure and self…and that was really important to me.”

Venus is the Roman name for Aphrodite.

The song follows Lauren’s first solo release, “Expectations.”
