Dave MeyersAriana Grande was set to give her first public concert performance since her breakup with SNL‘s Pete Davidson this weekend, but fans will just have to “Imagine” what it would have been like.
Multiple sources have confirmed to People magazine that Ari has called off her show at The Chelsea in The Cosmopolitan hotel in Las Vegas, reportedly because of bronchitis.
As previously reported, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, tickets to that concert were changing hands on the secondary market from $1,115 to $3,579 apiece.
Ariana made her first big TV appearance since the breakup on the December 18 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The concert cancellation is a less-than-auspicious end to a year that Ariana herself described earlier this month as “one of the best…of my career and the worst of my life.”
Ari and Pete broke up in October, a month after her former boyfriend, Mac Miller, died of an overdose. This month, she rushed to the SNL studios to offer support after Davidson posted a disturbing note on his Instagram, but he reportedly refused to see her.
On the plus side, Ariana’s topped the charts for weeks with her smash single, “thank u, next,” and she’s been nominated for two Grammys, for her album Sweetener and her song “God Is a Woman.“
