Katy Perry cozies up to #1 spot on “Billboard”'s AC chart with “Cozy Little Christmas”

ABC/Craig SjodinKaty Perry’s first holiday track, “Cozy Little Christmas,” has given her a nice little present just before the big day: It just hit #1 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart.

The song is Katy’s third to top the AC chart, following 2013’s “Roar” and 2011’s “Firework.”

“Cozy Little Christmas” is the second holiday song to reach the top of the AC chart this year, following John Legend’s “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” which just fell to #2.

Counting Katy’s hit, there have now been 23 Christmas song to hit #1 on the chart since 2000, when many radio stations started the tradition of playing nothing but Christmas songs between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Among those songs that have ruled: Seal’s “This Christmas,” Idina Menzel and Michael Buble‘s “Baby It’s Cold outside,” Sia‘s “Santa’s Coming for Us,” Josh Groban‘s “Believe,” Train‘s “This Christmas,” and Kelly Clarkson’s “Underneath the Tree.”
