Mark SurridgeEarly in his career, Ed Sheeran was often mistaken for Rupert Grint, the actor who played Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies. But Ed says if he really was a classmate of Harry’s at Hogwarts, they probably wouldn’t have hung out much at all.
In a video for Buzzfeed, in which he answers fan questions while playing with kittens — and yes, it’s as adorable as it sounds — Ed is asked to choose which house in Hogwarts he’d be in. “I always thought I’d probably be Hufflepuff,” he admits.
“Slytherin’s, like, pure, pure blood and I’m kind of like mixed between Irish and English. And Ravenclaw’s very smart,” he laughs. “Gryffindor’s like, really brave and Hufflepuff just kinda’s the one that isn’t! So I guess I’d be Hufflepuff.”
Ed also commented on his involvement in another well-known fantasy series: What does he think happened to the soldier he played in that one episode of Game of Thrones?
“I know what Game of Thrones fans hope happened to my character,” Ed laughs. “I’m sure they think my character got brutally, brutally murdered! But I think my character is still out there. He’s just chillin’.”
Among Ed’s other Buzzfeed revelations:
If he could only watch one movie for the rest of his life, it’d be Goodfellas.
His cats and Taylor Swift’s cats have never met.
Some current artists who “inspire” him to be “better” are Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande.
His advice for aspiring musicians? “You have to do loads of stuff that no one notices…and that’s, like five, six years minimum…play gigs that no one listens to, write songs that everyone doesn’t believe in…And then just never have a Plan B. Always think that you are gonna succeed, and eventually you are.”
