Danielle DeGrasseAfter months of teasing, Troye Sivan has finally gifted his fans with his long-awaited new album, Bloom, featuring the singles “My My My!” and his Ariana Grande collabo, “Dance to This.”
On Thursday night, Troye celebrated the album’s release by performing with a string quartet on the roof of the historic Capitol Records tower in Hollywood. He’ll appear on Live with Kelly and Ryan on September 5 and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on September 6. Also on September 6, look for Troy to appear on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live.
In an interview with Hedges in VMAN magazine, Troy said of Bloom, “I got settled in L.A. and was super happy in my relationship. I’d never written happy music, because music is normally something I turn to when I’m sad, as kind of a coping mechanism. So I was like, what does ‘happy me’ sound like?”
He added, “I started just writing these songs. It was sort of love letter after love letter to my boyfriend, house, family, community, and nights out. The word ‘bloom’ I had saved in my phone for so long, because it was really how I was feeling.”
Bloom is the follow-up to Troye’s 2015 debut album Blue Neighbourhood. The Bloom tour kicks off September 21 with special guest Kim Petras.
Before that, Troye will be seen in Boy Erased, a new movie which will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8. The movie, which hits theaters in November, also stars Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe and Lucas Hedges.
