Courtesy Apple MusicKesha will celebrate the one-year anniversary of the release of her album Rainbow with a documentary that offers fans a look at how the album was created.
On August 10, Rainbow — The Film arrives on Apple Music. Directed by Kesha, her brother Lagan Sebert and Kevin Hayden, the movie’s a mix of documentary footage with what’s described as “psychedelic vignettes” which illustrate Kesha’s “inner demons and real-life struggles.”
There’s also unseen footage of the singer performing at clubs and bars around the country, writing and recording the album and preparing for her performance at the Grammy Awards earlier this year.
In a statement, Kesha says, “Making ‘Rainbow’ the album was such a therapeutic process and given the opportunity to turn it into a three-dimensional piece of art has helped me find even deeper healing and catharsis.”
She adds, “I hope this film inspires others to never give up even if you feel full of hurt or lost, because after the storm comes a rainbow. Depression, anxiety and mental illness are things we all need to talk about more, and there is no shame in asking for help.”
“Making the decision to work on yourself is the bravest thing you can do,” she concludes. “I hope this film helps bring light and love to everyone.”
