Jimmy FontaineJust before he kicks off his Honda Civic Tour, Charlie Puth has released a new video for his song “The Way I Am.”
The clip finds Charlie at a bustling house party, but he keeps to himself as the party-goers move at hyper-speed around him. He laments at feeling like he doesn’t fit in, singing, “Everybody’s trying to be famous, and I’m just trying to find a place to hide.” He also longs to make a connection, singing, “’Cause all I wanna do is just hold somebody, but no one ever wants to get to know somebody.”
The chorus has him realizing he can’t control what people think of him. “I’mma tell ‘em all/I’mma tell ‘em all/That you can either hate me or love me/But that’s just the way I am,” the lyrics say.
In the end, as the party comes to a close, he finally makes a connection with a pretty brunette. She locks eyes with him and he smirks in surprise.
Charlie’s headlining Honda Civic Tour kicks off July 13 in Boston and runs through September 1.
