Ed, Bruno, Sam, Whitney, ABBA, Bon Jovi dominate YouTube's Prom playlists

Courtesy Atlantic RecordsProm season is here, so what songs will young people across the country be busting a move to at their big nights?  YouTube offers some insight with a list of the most popular current songs in the streaming platform’s prom-related playlists.

To the surprise of no one, Ed Sheeran‘s ballad “Perfect” tops the list.  Not only is it romantic, it’s also a waltz, which means it’s perfect for those slow dance moments.  Ed’s other romantic ballad, “Thinking Out Loud,” is on the list as well.

And when it’s time to get the party going, according to YouTube, prom-goers will be turning to Bruno Mars’ “Finesse” remix, Charlie Puth’s “How Long,” and Imagine Dragons’ “Believer,” among other hits.

YouTube has also compiled a list of so-called “classic” songs that are part of prom-related playlists — “classic” in this case meaning they were released before the year 2000.  Artists on that list include Cyndi Lauper, Bon Jovi, ABBA, Whitney Houston and The Backstreet Boys

Number one on the list?  Mr. Rickroll himself, Rick Astley, with “Never Gonna Give You Up.”
