PRNewsfoto/PepsiCoDua Lipa will be laying down some “New Rules” at the start of a major soccer championship final later this month.
She’ll be performing at the opening ceremony of the UEFA Champions League Final May 26 in Kyiv, Ukraine. It’s the world’s most-watched annual sporting event and is described as “the ultimate match in European club football.” This year, it’ll be Liverpool taking on Real Madrid.
In a statement, Dua Lipa said she was “honored” to be asked to perform, adding, ‘It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I can’t wait to get in front of the fans and be part of such an exciting event — I’m planning to put on an unforgettable show!”
Speaking to Britain’s Press Association, Dua said she’s never actually attended a soccer game, but nonetheless, she’s planning to deliver her “craziest performance ever.”
“It’s such a big performance for myself that I always feel there are new things to do and there’s always ways to better yourself and better your performances and do something even more crazy and more extravagant,” she added. “There’ll be a whole lot of girl power there, so it’ll be a mix.”
