Ariana Grande reveals new album title, “Sweetener,” and performs “No Tears Left to Cry” on “The Tonight Show”

Andrew Lipovsky/NBCAriana Grande took over The Tonight Show on Tuesday, and revealed some big details about her upcoming album.

The disc — her first album since the horrific bombing that killed 22 concertgoers and injured hundreds more at her Manchester Arena show in England on May 22, 2017 — will be titled Sweetener, and will drop this summer.

Sweetener will feature several different producers, including Pharrell Williams and Max Martin.

Ariana didn’t give a specific release date for the album, but told host Jimmy Fallon that she’s planned a series of events, scheduled on the 20th of each of the three months leading up to the release. That would place the date sometime in July. One of those events will be a performance at the Billboard Music Awards later this month.

The 24-year-old singer also revealed a partial track listing, including the opening tune, “Raindrops,” which samples “An Angel Cried” — a song from the 1950s that Ariana says was co-written by her grandfather’s best friend and The Four Seasons‘ Bob Gaudio. Other titles include “R.E.M,” “The Light Is Coming,” and “God Is a Woman.”

Ariana appeared in a few comedy bits with Fallon, including a segment taped a day earlier, in which she surprised fans while they sang her hit “One Last Time.”

Another featured Grande and Fallon playing “Musical Genre Challenge,” where each sang popular tunes in different musical styles. For example, Ariana delivering Kendrick Lamar‘s “Humble” as a goth rock song and “God’s Plan,” by Drake, in the style of a 1990s diva.

Another segment, called “NBD,” featured Jimmy, as Bravo TV show host Casey, chatting with Ariana about things that are “No Big Deal.”

Grande closed the show with the debut TV performance of her current hit, “No Tears Left to Cry,” from Sweetener.
