Kai Z. FengBruno Mars is part Filipino, which is why he’s landed on an inaugural list of the most influential Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders of the past year.
The list was complied by a non-profit called Gold House, in honor of May being Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, as well as the 50th anniversary of the term “Asian American.”
The list, dubbed A-100, features notable people in several categories, with Bruno being included under Media + Entertainment. The only other singer on the list is Kehlani, who can currently be heard duetting with Charlie Puth on the song “Done for Me.”
Other big names on the list include Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Daniel Dae Kim, Daily Show correspondent and comedian Hasan Minhaj, filmmakers John M. Chu and Justin Lin, The Big Sick star Kumail Nanjiani, actress, writer and producer Mindy Kaling, Quantico star Priyanka Chopra, Rogue One actor Riz Ahmed, and actresses Constace Wu and Chloe Bennett.
