Emma Gonzalez doesn't want Kanye West's compliment; Kanye defends “free thinking” yet again

ABC/Steve FennFollowing Kanye West’s tweetstorm last week about how much he loves President Donald Trump, he then took up a position on Twitter that was contrary to many Trump supporters.

On Saturday, Kanye tweeted a photo of Parkland, Florida, shooting survivor and activist Emma Gonzalez and captioned it “my hero Emma Gonzalez.” He followed that up with a photo of himself with a shaved head, which he captioned, “Inspired by Emma.’

In response, Emma tweeted a photo of James Shaw Jr., the Waffle House customer who grabbed the gun from the shooter during the attack at the restaurant in Antioch, Tennessee.  Using the same capitalization and spacing as Kanye did, Emma captioned the post, “my hero James Shaw Jr.”

A number of Trump supporters have attacked Gonzalez and her fellow classmates, who’ve been fighting for gun reform ever since the February 14 shooting at their school that killed 17.

On Sunday, Kanye posted a series of tweets in which he seemed to be accusing people of attacking him simply because he is supporting unpopular opinions.  “We’re in this so-called information age but we’re starving for wisdom,” he wrote. “We’re being starved and anyone who starts asking unpopular questions gets demonized. Only free thinkers can change the world.”

He added, “There’s a silent majority of people that have been silenced for too long.”

As previously reported, in Kanye’s new song “Ye vs. The People,” whose lyrics are a debate between Kanye and T.I., Tip dismissed ‘Ye by rapping, “All that free thought s**t? Find a better defense.”
