ABC/Paula LoboEd Sheeran brings back his puppet alter ego in the new video for “Happier.”
We first saw Puppet Ed in his 2014 video for “Sing,” but this time around, Puppet Ed is going through a tough time. He’s dealing with heartbreak over seeing his ex, a balloon girl, moving on with someone else.
Puppet Ed tries to drown his sorrow with some whiskey at a bar as he reminisces about their time together and imagines beating up her new puppet beau. Everything around him starts to turn to balloons as he can’t seem to shake her memory.
In the end, though, Ed witnesses balloon girl being let go by her new boyfriend, and watches her float away into the sky.
