Bebe Rexha's resume: From “The Monster” to “Meant to Be”

ABC/Kelsey McNealBebe Rexha has scored a career-best #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Meant to Be,” her collabo with Florida Georgia Line.  But while some people are just discovering Bebe, she didn’t come out of nowhere. She’s got an impressive resume, and gets a kick out of people learning about it.

Before “Meant to Me,” Bebe, who released two EPs last year, co-wrote tracks for Selena Gomez, Nick Jonas and Iggy Azaela.  She also co-wrote and sang on David Guetta‘s top-10 hit “Hey Mama,” but believes it was two songs in particular that really put her on the map.

“‘The Monster'” with Eminem and Rihanna was first, because that gave me respect in the music business,” Bebe tells ABC Radio about the #1 hit she co-wrote for the superstars.  “But it also put me in a position where I was able to live on my own and move to LA and afford an apartment.”

“And then ‘Me, Myself & I’ really put my name out there,” she says, referring to her 2015 top-10 single with rapper G-Eazy. “I couldn’t have been happier about putting out that record with G.”

Thanks to her current success, Bebe says people are slowly learning about her — especially if they go to see one of her shows, during which she performs her own versions of the hits she wrote for others.

“People have no idea about my past and I kinda love that,” she tells ABC Radio. “When they see my bio or however they hear my story, they’re like ‘Ohmigosh!’  It’s the best reaction ever!”

She laughs, “Especially when they’re in the audience and they have no idea — their jaws drop, they’re like, “GASP!” and they take a big deep breath…it’s awesome!”
