Big Beat Records/AtlanticWhile you’re waiting for MAX to follow up his breakout smash “Lights Down Low,” you can check out his vocals on a new track by Norwegian producer/deejay Matoma.
The track, “Lonely,” is the second single from Matoma’s upcoming debut album One In a Million. In a statement, MAX says, “Working with Matoma is such a dream. His energy and passion are infectious and he just knows exactly what he wants when we create together, which makes it so much more exciting. Such a joy to be able to dive deep into the meaning of this song.”
So what is the meaning of the song, which features the chorus “Where were you when I was lonely”? Max explains, “The people that are there for you in the trenches are the ones you want with you when you are basking in the glory. And that’s what this song is all about: avoiding those fake people who just want to jump in your life with things are good.”
Matoma says of the collaboration, “I’m so pumped to have a song together [with MAX] and can’t wait to perform it with him at festivals this summer.”
Meanwhile, there’s no timetable for MAX’s official follow-up to “Lights Down Low” but he is working hard on new music.
