ABC/Image Group LAOn Tuesday, G-Eazy dropped his YouTube Artist Spotlight story, These Things Happened, and later that night, he wrapped up the North American leg of his Beautiful and Damned tour at New York’s famed Radio City Music Hall. So what’s next for the “Him & I” rapper? Maybe the big screen.
G-Eazy created a short film to go with his The Beautiful and Damned album, and he says that whetted his appetite for acting.
“I would love to get into acting,” he tells ABC Radio. “I had a really good time making the short film. It was a new challenge for me and it definitely kinda put the bug in me of, like, maybe this is…the next dream to chase, or something like that.”
The rapper’s girlfriend Halsey just nabbed her first film role, providing the voice for Wonder Woman in the upcoming animated film Teen Titans GO! to the Movies. So what kind of role would G-Eazy, born Gerald Gillum, like to play?
“A gangster movie, something like that, like a Goodfellas remake or something,” he tells ABC Radio.
After claiming that he’d want to play the minor Goodfellas character “Johnny Two Times” — who says everything twice — G admits, “That’s not the role I’d wanna play, nah. I’m just kidding!”
Guess we’ll just have to wait to see what kind of part he ends up playing. Meanwhile, this weekend in Miami, the rapper will perform at the Ultra Music Festival, and then head overseas for a string of European and U.K. dates.
