Sick Boys: The Chainsmokers turn into bloodthirsty cannibals in new video for “You Owe Me”

Disruptor Records / Columbia RecordsThe Chainsmokers have developed a taste for blood.

In the video for their brand-new track “You Owe Me,” Drew Taggart and Alex Pall seem to be normal guys living in a mansion and busying themselves with household tasks like taking out the garbage, mopping floors, doing dishes, hanging pictures and cleaning counters.

They set up a big dining table full of candles just as a group of guests arrive, bearing gifts.  That’s when things start to get weird.   Everyone gathers around the table and starts eating dinner as Drew’s eyes turn black, Alex grows fangs and all of a sudden, it’s a bloodbath. Drew and Alex start biting their guests’ necks, vampire style, tearing them apart and eating them as blood spatters everywhere.

At the end of the video, the two blood-soaked guys are cleaning up the blood-spattered house and taking out garbage bags filled with body parts.

The song could be a criticism of how the press treats them. The first verse finds Drew singing about everything “the papers” don’t report, and the bridge features the lines “Say it to my face if you meant it/Say it to my face, but you won’t.”

The chorus, meanwhile, goes, “You don’t know me/Don’t you think that I get lonely?/It gets dark inside my head/Check my pulse and if I’m dead you owe me.”

This is The Chainsmokers’ second single of 2018, following “Sick Boy.”
