©Music ChoiceWhile Liam Payne has released successful singles like “Strip That Down” and the Rita Ora duet “For You,” he’s still hard at work on his debut solo album. And the singer tells Music Choice he’s taking a pretty unstructured approach to the whole process.
“I sit in my car and write and write and write, write, write,” he says. “I have my own studio in London which is great, it’s got a real nice little family feel to it. I go in, record a few things, get a few beats off people. That is kind of the way I am working at the moment”
His methods may seem spontaneous, but he knows exactly what kind of sound he wants.
“For me, I really want to tap into that urban scene because it’s what I love,” he says. “And for me, I want to find a balance between pop and urban. Wherever that is.”
Liam is also balancing his family life with son Bear and partner Cheryl Cole with being on the road, since his lifestyle has him bouncing from London to New York to L.A.
“I don’t think I have fully settled down yet, to be honest with you,” he says. “Obviously my life has been on the road the whole time that I have been doing this, so I’m more than used to moving to place to place to place.”
But London, he says, will always be home: “I’m an English boy, I can’t help it.”
