ABC/Image Group LAImagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds has three daughters — Arrow, Gia and Coco — but contrary to popular belief, he hasn’t recruited any of them to sing the high-pitched chorus on the band’s hit “Thunder.”
“It’s funny ‘cause a lot of people have asked me if that’s my five-year-old girl who’s singing the ‘Thunder’ part in it,” Dan tells ABC Radio, referring to Arrow. “It’s actually my own voice that I just pitched up!”
Thanks to the success of “Thunder” and the band’s other smash single from Evolve, “Believer,” Imagine Dragons have more fans than ever — and younger ones apparently really like “Thunder”: It’s gotten a lot of airplay on Radio Disney. Dan says he’s proud that the band’s music appeals to all ages.
“I love that. I mean, to go to a show and have generations, from kids to college kids to adults; that’s what it’s all about to us,” he tells ABC Radio. “So we’re stoked on that. Every time I see a kid at the show, it makes me super happy.”
Despite two nominations, Imagine Dragons went home empty-handed from the Grammys on Sunday, but they’re on to their next project: They’re performing at the EA Sports Bowl concert in Minneapolis on Thursday, February 1, three days before the Super Bowl.
As for a proper Imagine Dragons tour of the U.S. in 2018, Dan wouldn’t confirm, but teased, “I’ll give a big ‘maybe’ on that one!”
