Mert & MarcusTaylor Swift has been known to be generous with her fans, but this story takes things to a whole new level.
According to the British paper The Daily Mail, a U.K. fan named Stephanie posted on Taylor’s new app The Swift Life that the singer helped her buy a house. The fan explains that she was pregnant and homeless at the time.
“I’ve been contemplating posting this story for a while,” the fan writes. “I’ve finally decided to tell you all what Taylor did for me. What many of you don’t know is that for eight months of my pregnancy I was homeless.”
According Stephanie, at that time, her apartment had been condemned for health reasons, and she “lost everything.” On top of that, her boyfriend lost his job. She says that she attended Taylor’s show in Manchester and met her backstage. When Taylor found out about the girl’s struggles, she offered to help.
Stephanie says Taylor took her into her dressing room and told her, “You’ve been in my life for a long time and you’ve never asked me for anything.”
Then, Stephanie says, “[Taylor] told me she wanted to give me the money back for my ticket that night. What she actually did was help us buy a home and all I needed for my baby. She told me ‘I want you to be able to enjoy your little girl, not have to worry about all this stuff.’”
Stephanie concludes, “That night she gave me her hand and lifted me off the ground. The same way she’s done for 12 years. I love her forever.”
Taylor’s rep confirms to ABC Radio that the story, which took place several years ago, is true.
