Hailee Steinfeld says “Pitch Perfect 3” will “shock a bunch of people”

UMe/RepublicThe Bellas are back! Pitch Perfect 3 aca-arrives in theaters today and Hailee Steinfeld, who joined the franchise for Pitch Perfect 2, says this new one might surprise you.

Hailee reprises her role as Emily Junk, who is now leader of the Barden Bellas. In the movie, the original Bellas, including Anna Kendrick’s Beca and Rebel Wilson’s Fat Amy, team up with Emily to get together for a USO tour, entertaining the troops in Europe.

“It’s complete madness and everything you would want to see and more,” laughs Hailee. “I’m so excited…to be a part of it. And it’s a real tearjerker, this one, I think.”

A Pitch Perfect movie….a tearjerker? Well, yes. Hailee says you may be surprised at how emotional it is.

“I think it’ll kinda shock a buncha people,” she tells ABC Radio. ‘But it’s a great film, great writing, and the music is awesome, the dance numbers are amazing.”

The movie’s soundtrack, out now, features the Bellas performing songs by Britney Spears, Elle King, Sia, George Michael and DNCE, among others.

Between filming this movie and the Transformers spin-off Bumblebee — in addition to her music career — Hailee’s had a busy year and is ready for a holiday break. So, which family tradition is she looking forward to the most?

“Oh boy, that’s so hard!” she laughs. “I think just being with family. At that time of the year, there’s, like, no excuses, you all have to be together, and it’s my favorite.”
