Noel Vasquez/Getty ImagesDon’t believe those reports that Selena Gomez‘s mom is so upset that her daughter’s back together with Justin Bieber that she had to be hospitalized. Turns out that’s only partly true.
A source close to Selena’s family confirms to People magazine that Selena’s mom, Mandy Teefy, was examined by medical personnel last week, but explains, “It’s been a stressful time for Mandy and she made the decision herself to go to the hospital and make sure everything was okay. This wasn’t just about Justin.”
Another source tells People. “It’s true her family doesn’t approve of Justin, but this wasn’t just over a fight about him.” Meanwhile, a source from Justin’s camp says he’s upset that he’s causing friction between Selena and her mom.
“Justin knows Selena’s family is not happy about her dating him. He has known for a long time. But he is adamant that he has changed and is a better boyfriend now,” dishes the source. “He will keep trying to prove himself to her family. He is sad that her mom is not doing well. Selena is very close with her mom, so it’s stressful for her. He wants Selena to be happy.”
On Monday, Teefy shared an Instagram post remembering a miscarriage she suffered on that day in 2011.
