ABC/ Heidi GutmanLuis Fonsi is definitely feeling the Grammys love. His song “Despacito” won four Latin Grammys last month, and now the remix hit is up for three American Grammys.
Luis tells Entertainment Tonight he’ll be attending the January 28 ceremony at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, and he can’t wait to celebrate with his “Despacito” collaborators Justin Bieber and Daddy Yankee.
“I wouldn’t miss it! I will probably be there with my wife since our kids are still too young,” he says. “I’m not sure if Justin [Bieber] will be going but I sure hope so. Nothing would make me happier than to celebrate everything that has happened this year with him and Daddy Yankee.”
Luis says while he’s still not quite sure what made “Despacito” the success that it was, he’s “happy that so many people around the world connected to it.”
“I’m blessed that it has allowed me to not only provide some happiness during these difficult times,” he says. “To have the chance to perform in many different countries for the first time where Spanish is not the native language and to be able to meet a brand-new audience…it’s a humbling and beautiful experience.”
