Nick Jonas is excited to not be at the “kids' table” at the Golden Globes

Getty Images via ABCNick Jonas was nominated for a Golden Globe this year for his song “Home,” from the animated movie Ferdinand. He’s looking forward to enjoying some celebratory champagne this time around, something he couldn’t do at his first Golden Globes experience.

“The first and only time I went to the Golden Globes [in 2009], we were seated with Zac Efron and Blake Lively. That was our table,” Nick recalls to E! News. “My brothers and I, I don’t think we were 21 yet; I definitely wasn’t…We couldn’t have the champagne at the table. I’m really looking forward to that aspect of it.”  Nick says it was kind of like being at the kids’ table.

Not only does Nick now have a grown-up Golden Globes to look forward to next year, he’s also got a new album coming out.

“There’s already a record that’s finished…We just want to make sure we have the time to really dedicate to it,” he says. “So, the beginning of next year, I expect to be putting out this body of work. I’m very excited about it. I think it’s some of my strongest yet.”

But first, Nick will spend Christmas with his family. He plans to sing some Christmas carols with his niece, three-year-old Alena, who’s “newly into singing” and just starting to figure out he’s famous.

“I think she’s getting it, but she’s not fazed by it at all,” Nick says. “…They’ll send me videos of her watching me or Joe on TV, and she freaks out. She loves it! But I don’t know if she’s fully connected the dots yet.”
