Taylor Swift already within striking distance of one-million-plus sales week

Mert and Marcus“Call It What You Want,” but Taylor Swift‘s new album Reputation is shaping up to be a monster success.

Following the news that Reputation sold more than 700,000 copies in its first day in the U.S., Billboard reports that by the close of business on Sunday, the album had moved 925,000 copies.  That means the it will likely sell a million or more copies by the end of the tracking week, which ends November 16.

Industry sources tell Billboard that the album will likely earn Taylor her biggest first-week ever, bigger even than her current career-best week. That came during the debut week of sales for 2014’s album 1989, during which it moved 1.29 million copies.

If Reputation cracks the million mark, Taylor will become the only artist ever to have four albums top one million in their first week of sales.  She’s already the only artist ever to have three albums sell that many…at least, the only artist since 1991, when Nielsen Music started keeping track of this stuff.

With sales like these, it’s a no-brainer that Reputation will also debut at #1 on the Billboard album chart.  When it does, it’ll be Taylor’s fifth chart-topping disc, following Fearless, Speak Now, Red and 1989.
