Niall Horan on tying The Beatles' record: It's “unbelievable”

Capitol RecordsWhen Niall Horan‘s debut solo album Flicker debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, One Direction joined The Beatles as the only groups ever to have three of their members hit #1 as solo artists.  As you might imagine, Niall doesn’t quite know what to make of that particular feat.

Speaking to Billboard, Niall says, “It’s a pretty cool stat to be able to read. The Beatles are The Beatles. We just happen to be another band who had three members or whatever, but to read something like that, it’s unbelievable. It’s hard to really put into words how to even react to that.”

Both Zayn Malik and Harry Styles earned #1 albums with their respective solo debuts; Zayn in 2016 and Harry earlier this year.  Niall says of Flicker‘s chart-topping success, “That’s all you want to hear. When you write somethin’, you wanna hear No. 1 on the Billboard top 200, and that’s the news I got.”
