Dennis LeupoldCamila Cabello plays multiple roles in the cinematic new video for “Havana.”
The clip opens with a melodramatic scene in the style of a telenovela, with Camila in the lead role. Then, we see another version of Camila watching the telenovela on TV.
Her abuelita — Spanish for grandma — tries to encourage her to turn off the TV and go out dancing with her sister, but Camila chooses to stay home and watch another movie. Once granny’s asleep, Camila leaves and heads to the movie theater.
The movie playing is called “Havana,” and it stars — you guessed it — Camila as a sassy club singer who dances with various men. In the end, she chooses herself over a guy.
“Wait a minute. That’s it? That’s the ending? You end up alone,” Camila yells from the audience. Actress Camila responds, “Hey sweetie. If you don’t like my story, go write your own.”
Camila then leaves the theater and starts dancing down the street, where she runs into a cute boy. She gets her romantic ending as the two start dancing together.
At the end of the video flashes the message: “This is dedicated to the dreamers.”
