Nelly's attorney responds to claim that he and Nelly are “bullying” the rapper's accuser in the media

ABC/Paula LoboFollowing his arrest over the weekend for sexual assault, and his subsequent release from custody without being charged, Nelly’s alleged victim is now complaining that the rapper has “bullied [her] harshly in the media.”

Her attorney, Karen Koehler, tells TMZ that the so-called bullying “rises to the level of a crime.”

As previously reported, Nelly was released Saturday after being accused of assaulting an unidentified woman Friday night in Washington state.

The 41-year-old rapper, born Cornell Haynes, Jr., has since proclaimed his innocence, as has his attorney, Scott Rosenblum.

According to TMZ, Koehler has written a letter stating that it is “morally reprehensible for an accused person and his bully lawyer to issue derogatory and defamatory statements against a young alleged rape victim.”

TMZ reports that Koehler’s letter continues, “It is also criminal — in the State of Washington — when those vicious attacks are issued in the form of threats.”

Koehler feels that Rosenblum threatened his client by describing her as “a person with an agenda.

In response to TMZ’s report about Koehler’s letter, Rosenblum told ABC News that Nelly “will continue to respond to baseless allegations.”

Over the weekend, the recording artist tweeted that he was “beyond shocked” to have been the target of his accuser’s “false allegation.”

“I am completely innocent,” he continued.

“I am confident that once the facts are looked at, it will be very clear that I am the victim of a false allegation.”

He added in a separate tweet, “I also want to thank my fans for their unwavering support. They know me. I assure you I will be vindicated. And I assure you, I will pursue every legal option to address this defaming claim. Thank you.”
