The Recording Industry Association of America — the folks who certify songs gold and platinum — officially presented Katy with three RIAA Diamond Song Awards. A song is certified diamond when it notches 10 million or more sales or streams, and Katy is the only artist in history to have three such songs: “Roar,” “Dark Horse” and “Firework.”
Considering that only 14 songs in history have ever been certified diamond, Katy’s achievement is pretty impressive.
What’s more, Katy’s the only female artist to have four videos that have racked up a billion views or more: “Roar,” “Dark Horse,” “Firework” and “Last Friday Night.”
Katy’s tour continues Friday and Saturday with two shows in Boston. Next week, the Witness tour arrives at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
