ABC/Randy HolmesTo celebrate the 20th anniversary of her 1997 smash hit album, Butterfly, Mariah Carey is planning to go on a world tour for fans to experience the anniversary in person — and later, on TV.
Page Six reports Mariah will hit the road next year with VH1 filming the tour for an upcoming docu-series.
This project would mark the second reality show project for Mimi, whose first, titled Mariah’s World’s, aired for just one season last year on E!. That series gave fans a glimpse of her 2016 Sweet Sweet Fantasy world tour.
A source tells Page Six, “Mariah’s World was always planned to be an eight-part TV event. But now she is planning a huge world tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Butterfly to start early 2018. It will be similar to U2’s Joshua Tree tour.
Along with the tour, Mimi’s also releasing a collector’s edition 12-inch vinyl picture disc version of Butterfly on October 20, which you can pre-order now from Amazon.
In addition, you can tune in tonight to see her perform her enduring hit single, “Honey” — which comes from Butterfly — along with Jermaine Dupri and Da Brat at this year’s Hip Hop Honors: The 90’s Game Changers on VH1 at 9 p.m. ET.
Mariah will be honored during the special broadcast as well.
