Demi Lovato: My sexuality is “irrelevant to what my music is all about”

Dennis LeupoldDemi Lovato‘s bi-curious hit “Cool for the Summer” made some fans curious about Demi’s own sexuality.  But the singer refuses to be pinned down on the topic, deeming it “irrelevant” to her music.

During an interview with the gay website PrideSource, Demi was invited to directly address her sexuality, but she replied, “Thank you for the opportunity, but I think I’m gonna pass.”

“I just feel like everyone’s always looking for a headline and they always want their magazine or TV show or whatever to be the one to break what my sexuality is,” she explained. “I feel like it’s irrelevant to what my music is all about.”

“I stand up for the things that I believe in and the things that I’m passionate about, but I like to keep my personal life as private as possible when it comes to dating and sexuality and all that stuff just because it has nothing to do with my music,” Demi continued.

The Grammy-nominated star then said fans should “watch my documentary,” referring to Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated, which will hit YouTube on October 12.  In it, she says, “I answer a lot of questions.”

When PrideSource asked her if some of those questions she answers are about her sexuality, she replied, “Yeah, some about that. Because if ever I want to talk about it, I want it to be on my own terms.”

Demi’s new album Tell Me You Love Me arrives September 29.
