Liam HemsworthEllen DeGeneres may be very cool, but by her own admission, there are some things she just doesn’t understand about millennials. That’s why she asked her pal Miley Cyrus to swing by her show and explain them to her.
In a comic segment that aired on today’s episode of Ellen’s show, Ellen quizzed Miley about millennial behavior, including why people her age post photos of their food on Instagram, and why they like to attend “dirty music festivals” like Coachella.
“Food photos are kinda like a celebration of life!” Miley explained. “I think we take food for granted and a photo helps remind us of the beauty that’s in front of us every single day.”
As for festivals, Miley says, “For a lot of people, it’s about being seen. Everybody goes, there’s tons of celebrities there, ya know. To which Ellen replied, “So, if someone posted a photo of themselves at Coachella with food, Instagram would just burst into flames?” “Yeah,” responded Miley.
She also told Ellen that people like to go to festivals because it’s “a really great way to see a whole bunch of bands in one place.” “I see,” Ellen replied. “But how come everybody there is watching the concert through their phones?”
“We’re not,” clarified Miley. “We’re not watching the concert. We’re taking selfies!”
“I see, I see,” said Ellen. “It’s loud and it’s crowded but everybody seems to be having such a good time. Is that because they’re high on life?”
Miley flashed a big smile and replied, “Definitely.”
