The Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee hit, featuring Justin Bieber, has tied for the most weeks spent at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2017. According to Billboard, the song scored a 12th week on top the tally, matching Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You.”
The Latin-pop jam joins the list of just 19 singles to have reigned atop the Hot 100 chart for at least 12 weeks since the chart’s inception in 1958. Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” holds the record by ruling the chart for 16 weeks in 1995-1996.
“Despacito” has also tied the record for most weeks at the top of the Digital Songs Sales chart, with 13 weeks. The Chainsmokers’ “Closer,” Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” and Flo Rida’s “Low” all reached 13 weeks as well.
