The Script ups the tempo with new single, “Rain”

Columbia RecordsThe Script is back with a new single. The song, called “Rain,” is their first new release in almost three years.

The lyrics are about dealing with a lover who’s left without warning. “Baby, when you’re gone, all it does is rain,” front man Danny O’Donoghue sings on the catchy chorus.

“This is a song you walk into the party with — we wanted to hook people in,” Danny tells U.K.’s Official Charts Company. “I also think it’s the sort of song we need for our live set. It’s fun, and making people dance isn’t something The Script normally do. We’ve upped the tempo on everything this time around.”

“Rain” is the first single from the Irish band’s upcoming fifth album. In honor of the song’s launch, The Script will deliver an intimate performance in New York City on July 20.
