After 61 weeks, The Chainsmokers fall out of the “Billboard” top 10

The 61-week streak began May 21, 2016 when “Don’t Let Me Down” made it into the top 10.  That was followed by “Closer,” “Paris” and their current single, “Something Just Like This.”  But now, according to Billboard, “Something Just Like This,” featuring Coldplay, has just fallen out of the top 10, snapping the streak.

That means Katy Perry is still the champ when it comes to the artist who’s spent the most consecutive weeks in the top 10. From 2010 to 2011, she spent 69 weeks there with a variety of singles from her Teenage Dream album.

The Chainsmokers still set a number of records during their streak, though. First of all, they’re the duo or group that has spent the most weeks in the top 10.  In addition, “Closer” set the record for the most weeks in the top 5, with 27.

Finally, in March, the duo had three songs in the top 10 at the same time. They’re only the third duo or group ever to do that, following The Beatles and the Bee Gees.
