Charlie Puth reveals and explains new album title, “VoiceNotes”

Catie LaffoonNow that Charlie Puth has our “Attention,” he’s revealing the name of his sophomore album. The singer appeared on NBC’s Today show Friday and announced that his album will be called VoiceNotes.

Charlie explained the meaning of the title, saying, “The reason why is because every song — I produced the whole album – every song came about from the VoiceNotes app on my iPhone.”

Whenever he’d have an idea for a song, he’d record it on the app instead of writing down the notes. Then he’d flesh it out in the studio. Charlie revealed that at the end of the video for his new single “Attention,” he plays the actual VoiceNote of him beatboxing the melody to the song in its early stages.

Charlie says he’s almost finished with the album, which is due out this fall.

Next week, he will be performing during Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular on NBC. He’ll then be hitting the road with Shawn Mendes beginning July 6 in Portland, Oregon.
