Julia Michaels says the way fans connect to “Issues” is “beautiful”

Meredith TruaxAfter penning hits for Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Nick Jonas, Fifth Harmony and Britney Spears, Julia Michaels now has her own smash with “Issues.”  She says she that fans have been telling her that they relate to the song, even though it’s one she wrote about her own relationship.

“The outpour[ing] of love has been so beautiful,” she gushes. “I can’t even tell you how many times a day I get people that say, y’know, they broke up with their boyfriend and this song has helped them — and how connected they feel makes me feel so good!”

In fact, fans’ connection with the song has helped it go platinum in just a few months — it’s the best-selling song by a new artist released in 2017.  So what will Julia do for an encore? Give fans more music, either via an EP or an album this summer.

“I am actually working on it now,” she tells ABC Radio about her debut release. “I’ve got a couple of songs that I really, really love, so I’m always trying to do more and push myself.”

“So hopefully I have an EP out by summer,” she laughs. “But that could also mean I have an album out in the summer! So it just depends on my brain and how I feel that time.”

Julia plans to put out a new single soon, which her fans, who she calls “Little Gems,” are eagerly anticipating.
