Denise TruscelloNot long ago, Britney Spears announced that her Piece of Me Las Vegas residency show would be coming to an end this year. So what’s next for Britney? How about a Broadway musical?
Forbes reports that Britney’s manager, Larry Rudolph, is considering crafting a musical around Britney’s catalog of hits. According to the publication, he’s already met with Broadway veteran Jerry Mitchell, who directed the Gloria Estefan musical On Your Feet!, to discuss the idea.
However, unlike On Your Feet!, the musical wouldn’t tell Brit’s life story through her songs. Instead, the production would be what’s called a “jukebox musical,” where her songs are woven into an original story. The best example of this is probably Mamma Mia!, which features the hits of ABBA, or Movin’ Out, which unfolds to the hits of Billy Joel.
“It would NOT be autobiographical,” Mitchell confirmed to Forbes. So far, there’s no specific timeline for the project.
