David M. Benett/Dave Benett/Getty ImagesLiam Payne and his girlfriend Cheryl Cole have evidently given their son the unusual name of Bear…and it may have been inspired by British wilderness survival expert and TV personality Bear Grylls.
Grylls tweeted a link to a story about the baby’s name and wrote, “Great choice! Love & blessings to you guys as you start on the greatest adventure… ” Liam then responded, “Thanks man hope he grows with an ounce of your courage! Your [sic] a boss.”
According to the Daily Mail, Liam and Cheryl both know Grylls: Liam actually filmed a British TV special with him in 2012.
While Bear is an unusual name, a number of other celebrities have used it for their offspring: Kate Winslet‘s son is named Bear Blaze, while Alicia Silverstone‘s son is Bear Blue. Red Hot Chili Peppers singer Anthony Kiedis has a son named Everly Bear.
Liam and Cheryl are not married, but the Mail reports that the baby will have his dad’s surname, and will be known as Bear Payne.
