“Call on Me” singer Starley says new life in the spotlight is “beautiful”

ABC/Randy HolmesAfter years of struggling behind the scenes in the music biz, Australian singer/songwriter Starley is now front and center with a hit single, “Call on Me,” a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live and an opening spot on Clean Bandit‘s current U.S. tour.  She says of her current situation, “Literally everything in my life has changed.”

“I used to be a songwriter, so flipping from being a songwriter that’s just in my room doing my stuff or in the studio doing stuff and then to this, where I’m in front of people all the time, everything in my life is changing, and it’s beautiful,” she tells ABC Radio.

You can see Starley warming up the crowds through the rest of Clean Bandit’s U.S. tour, which wraps up May 2 in Chicago.  She says she loves being on tour with an act she’s a fan of, and whose fans are likely to like her, too.

“I love their ‘Rockabye’ single…I love some of their other stuff too, but definitely ‘Rockabye’ is one of my favorites now,” she says of Clean Bandit’s hit that features Sean Paul. “So when I found out that I’m on tour with them I was super-stoked…It seems like the right market for me as well. The people that are listening to that music probably like my type of music.”

So for fans who haven’t checked out the show yet, what can we expect from her opening set?

“I dance a lot. I jump around. I’m not choreographed but I love moving and getting people excited,” she says of her concerts. “So it’s gonna have energy and it’s gonna be fun, no matter what!”
