Meredith TruaxJulia Michaels is out with the video for her debut single “Issues.”
In the clip, Julia wakes up in bed, and sees her guy under the covers. She puts on a robe and wanders outside in her backyard. She looks back inside the house and observes herself and the guy having what looks like an upsetting conversation, which ultimately ends in a kiss.
Then, we’re inside the house, and there’s a party going on. Julia’s guy is whooping it up, while she’s giving him the side-eye from the sidelines. Then, everyone else falls asleep, and she dances in the middle of the room while her guy watches her. The clip cuts back and forth between the party, the conversation and the backyard before Julia ends up back in bed, and sees her guy under the covers once again.
In a statement, Julia says that in the video, “I’m going through flashbacks from the night before with my boyfriend after waking up alone. I’m reflecting on the issues we have, but also remembering the great moments, and how much we love each other too.”
“Issues” is from Julia’s forthcoming album. Before she became an artist herself, she penned hits for Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber and others. She was just nominated for Best New Artist at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards.
