With the amount of airplay Halsey‘s Chainsmokers collaboration “Closer” got this past year, you’d be forgiven for forgetting that it’s been almost two years since she released a new album of her own. But that’s about to change.
“[I’]m pleased to announce my upcoming album, this june, is titled: hopeless fountain kingdom,” Halsey tweeted Tuesday evening, including a rather risque photo of herself naked to below-the-waist. The eye-popping photo, however, is NOT the album cover, she clarified in response to a question from one Twitter user. “When I’m ready for you to have the album cover, I’m gonna make you find it,” she tweeted.
hopeless fountain kingdom — yes, the title is all lower case — is the followup to Halsey’s debut full-length album, 2015’s Badlands.
In the intervening time Halsey hasn’t been completely idle. Besides her smash hit with The Chainsmokers she’s delivered two movie soundtrack songs — a remake of her Badlands track “Castle” for the soundtrack to The Huntsman: Winter’s War in 2016, and earlier this year “Not Afraid Anymore” from the soundtrack to Fifty Shades Darker.
