“7 Rings” for 7 weeks: Ariana notches another long run at #1

If you thought “thank u, next” would be Ariana Grande‘s biggest smash from her album of the same name, think again. The album’s second single, “7 Rings,” has just matched “thank u, next”‘s reign at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

As Billboard notes, “7 Rings” has scored its seventh week on top of the chart. “Thank u, next” was #1 for seven weeks starting in November of 2018. This means that Ari is one of only 20 artists in the history of the chart to have spent seven weeks or more on top with at least two different songs.

The leader of that pack is Drake, who’s had five songs to date that have been #1 for seven weeks or more. Mariah Carey and Rihanna have each had four, while Beyonce, Boyz II Men, and Eminem have had three.

In addition to Ariana, the other artists who’ve had two include The Beatles, Adele, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, JAY-Z, Maroon 5, Usher, T.I., Nelly, The Black Eyed Peas, Santana, and Pharrell Williams.

Elsewhere on the chart, Post Malone has two songs in the top five for a second week: “Sunflower,” with Swae Lee, and “Wow.”
