Adam Levine previews “The Voice” Battle Rounds with advisor Charlie Puth

Trae Patton/NBCThe Voice Battle Rounds are upon us.

Monday kicks off the next phase of the competition with help from team advisors. In an exclusive preview on People, Adam Levine gushes over his team’s advisor, Charlie Puth.

In the clip, Adam says he chose Charlie to help his contestants because he’s “brilliant musically” and “the perfect advisor.”

“Charlie is amazing,” Adam says. “I’ve known him for a few years now. We just love talking about music and really are kind of cut from the same cloth as far as our influences and the things that we love.”

Charlie previously served as a mentor for former coach Alicia Keys’ team in 2016.

Kelly Clarkson’s team advisor this season is country star Kelsea Ballerini, while John Legend’s is Khalid. Blake Shelton has two advisors: legendary country duo Brooks & Dunn.

The Voice airs Monday at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
