ABC/Image Group LARumors have been swirling about Taylor Swift‘s next “era” for a while now, and the singer’s just added more fuel to the fire by being spotted at a New York City recording studio Thursday night.
A source tells E! Online, “It appeared she was there all day as she was not spotted leaving until after 9 p.m.,” adding that the singer looked “pretty focused.” According to the source, it appeared as though Taylor “had a pretty intense full day of recording.”
At the American Music Awards in October, Taylor hinted at new music by saying, “I always look at albums as chapters in my life…I’m even more excited about the next chapter.”
Then, fans started buzzing about the fact that Taylor dressed up like Ariel the Mermaid at her New Year’s Eve costume party. One fan cited several supposed instances of Taylor sporting mermaids on her clothing on other occasions, and became convinced that mermaids will be the theme of her next album.
Taylor let three years lapse between her 2014 album 1989 and her 2017 album Reputation — in the past, she’d put out new music every two years. If she’s working on new music now, it’s possible that she’s back to her old schedule and that the end of 2019 might bring something new from the superstar. Considering that she’s turning 30 on December 13, 2019, she might want to mark that milestone with a new album.
