Ariana Grande gets bee tattoo in honor of Manchester

She posted a photo to Twitter Thursday, showing a tiny bumble bee inked behind her ear. The “worker bee” has been a symbol of the hard-working city of Manchester for decades. Many began getting bee tattoos in remembrance of the 2017 tragedy. Ariana’s music video for “No Tears Left to Cry” also features a bee flying away in the last shot, as a nod to the city.

Ariana captioned the photo of her new tattoo with the word, “Forever.”

On the tragedy’s anniversary Tuesday, she tweeted, “Thinking of you all today and every day [bee emoji]. I love you with all of me and am sending you all of the light and warmth I have to offer on this challenging day.”

Twenty-two people were killed and 139 injured on May 22, 2017, when a suicide bomber set off an explosive device outside of Manchester Arena following Ariana’s concert there. Two weeks later, Ariana helped organize and performed at the star-studded One Love Manchester benefit concert, to raise money for the victims.  She was subsequently named an honorary citizen of Manchester.
