Liam Payne may not have been asked to perform at the Royal Wedding, but he did get the chance to perform for the engaged couple at the Commonwealth Day service in London Monday.
Liam sang a cover of John Mayer’s “Waiting for the World to Change” at London’s famed Westminster Abbey. Prince Harry and his fiancée Meghan Markle were in attendance, as were Harry’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth and his brother and sister-in-law, Prince William and Kate Middleton.
“Such an honour to be asked to perform at the #CommonwealthDay service in front of the @royalfamily! Hope you enjoyed my cover of @JohnMayer’s Waiting For The World To Change,” Liam tweeted.
While his acoustic performance went off without a hitch, Liam was later reportedly spotted forgetting the words to one of the hymns sung during the service.
Commonwealth Day pays tribute to the 53 former territories of the British empire that remain within the Commonwealth of Nations.
