expand Sick Ariana Grande forced to cancel surprise performance at the Brit Awards

Getty Images/Dave Hogan for One Love ManchesterAriana Grande was set to take part in a surprise performance at tonight’s Brit Awards — the U.K. equivalent of the Grammys — but was forced to cancel at the last minute.

A source confirms to ABC Radio that Ariana is sick. Despite that, she was planning to attend the ceremony anyway, but according to the source, her doctor has told her not to fly overseas.

According to The Mirror, Ariana was due to take part in a tribute to the victims of the Manchester bombings, which killed more than 20 people outside her concert at the Manchester Arena on May 22. After the tragedy, Ariana organized the star-studded One Love Manchester concert, which raised money for the victims.

The Mirror reports that former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher will take Ariana’s place, and that he might sing the Oasis tune “Live Forever,” which he performed with Coldplay’s Chris Martin at the One Love Manchester concert.

Another Oasis song, “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” became the unofficial anthem of the bombing’s aftermath last year.  It was performed at the concert by Ariana, Chris Martin and Coldplay guitarist Jonny Buckland.
