Fifth Harmony's Lauren Jauregui says her collaborations are “a chance to discover who I am as an individual artist”

Courtesy of ULTRA RecordsCamila Cabello may be riding high on the chart right now as a solo artist, but she’s not the only member of Fifth Harmony who’s scored a hit apart from the group in the past year.  Lauren Jauregui landed in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart with “All Night,” her collaboration with superstar deejay Steve Aoki.  Lauren calls this sort of musical team-up a “practice round” for her.

In addition to her Aoki collabo, Lauren has appeared on various tracks with Marian Hill, Ty Dolla $ign and Halsey over the past year or so.

“These individual projects are more just a chance to explore myself and to discover who I am as an individual artist,” Lauren tells ABC Radio. ” ‘Cause I started when I was 16, and I never really got a chance to delve into that part of me.”

“So this has been an exploration for me of just working with different people and seeing what it is that we create together,” Lauren adds. “‘Cause I love collaborative art and I’m excited to work on my own art some day.”

She laughs, “So, this is a practice round for me!”

That being said, right now there are no plans for Lauren to launch a solo career apart from Fifth Harmony.  The group plans a tour next year in support of their self-titled third album, which debuted in the top 5.
