Luis Fonsi sweeps Latin Grammys; duet & video with Demi Lovato out now

Universal Music Latin Entertainment/Republic RecordsIt’s been a great 24 hours for Luis Fonsi.

First, the Puerto Rican singer swept the Latin Grammys Thursday night, with his smash “Despacito” winning in four categories:  “Record of the Year,” “Song of the year,” “Best Urban Fusion/Performance” and “Best Music Video Short Version.”  Luis also closed the show with a performance of “Despacito” done in four different musical styles, including a dance remix with Diplo.

Now Friday, Luis and Demi Lovato release their collaboration, “Echame La Culpa,” or “Blame Me,” as well as the video for the track.  It was directed by Carlos Perez, who also helmed the record-breaking clip for “Despacito.”

In a statement, Luis says of working with Demi, “What thrilled me the most was her desire to sing in Spanish and how perfectionist she was with the pronunciation of the lyrics.”

For her part, Demi says of Fonsi, “He was not only extremely grateful, sweet [and] outgoing, but…also patient with my Spanish, which is really refreshing because I was worried that it was not going to be good…but it turned out OK and I was really grateful for him that he was able to be there and he was very supportive.”

Luis continues his Love and Dance World Tour on November 19 with a series of European shows in Russia, Latvia, Serbia, Croatia, France, Germany and the Netherlands.
